Steven Alan Ellis (Steve) passed away May 27, 2022 in his home in Benson, AZ. He was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, December 9, 1953, son of Gene & Ruth Ellis.
Steve is survived by his mother, Ruth Ellis, sisters Susan Lavrack (Wayne) & Shari Casteel (John), nephews, nieces & many cousins that loved him. He also lived in Michigan, which he left for Arizona & spent many years in Tucson & Benson.
It saddens us to think that it happened this way, that he would die alone, but I believe we always knew that it is the way it would happen.
He lived a quiet life style...a lover of animals, nature, gardening & fishing. He was self employed & ran his own businesses for many years, stemming from some of those passions.
In high school he was a talented young man, playing golf, basketball, skiing & also in band. He loved his hot rods & motorcyles.
Because of our age differences, Sue has many memories of the earlier days, growing up & going to school together & all of the activities that go along with that as well.
Steve liked to have fun & was fun. He liked slap stick humor; we watched so many movies together & I will never forget that laugh.
Steve did have a strong faith, I remember him praying with me & I'm proud of all the years he served in the church, playing drums for worship.
Thanks Steve for teaching me to drive stick in your car in the desert, before I was really old enough to be driving! I have fond early memories of staying on your property, & playing chess by lantern while camping out. Later it was fun to visit your “ranch” & have the kids see country life, collecting eggs from your chickens & hanging around on your property. So fun to get to spend so many holidays together as well! We will miss you & I'm thankful you are able to reunite with dad. We have our nicknames, but sadly our trio of Steven, Susan & Sharon is no longer.
