Alden Montgomery Obituary

Alden Ray “Denny” Montgomery, age 69, died on Thursday, January 18th, 2024, in a vehicle collision on the way to work.

Denny was born on December 13, 1954, in Geneva, Ohio, to Howard Earl and Elinor Elizabeth Johnson Montgomery. He was the youngest of five children. He grew up in Ohio and Michigan and graduated from John Glenn High School in 1973. He moved to Saint David, Arizona, in 1974.

He was married to Susan Kay Crosby from 1974 to 1997. They had six children.

In 1998 he married Carol Dawn Johnson and inherited six children; they had two more together.

Denny worked as a miner at Freeport-McMoRan in Arizona, with a three-year stint in Idaho, for more than forty years. He was an invaluable operator for the molybdenum plant and really kept things running.

Denny loved his family, working on cars, peanut butter and tinkering. A true-life MacGyver, he could fix anything. He valued thriftiness and resourcefulness, working hard, and helping others. He had a smile that lit up his whole face and a passion for cars, for fixing things, and for odd combinations of leftovers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Elinor; by his son Alden Johnson Montgomery; and by daughter Carina Lorette Bradberry.

He is survived by his wife Dawn; children Neil Alden Montgomery, Brooke Gum, Bradley Clair Montgomery, Collin Earl Montgomery, Devon Eli Montgomery; Marshall Ryland Stowell, Robert Charles “RC” Bradberry, Tyler Daniel Bradberry, Averyanna Dawn Haines, Lucas Quinn Bradberry, Brynn Rayann Montgomery, Caden Lee Montgomery; his sons- and daughters-in-law, and 19 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Lesley White, Sharon Baker, Terry Montgomery, and Ann Montgomery.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at 11 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints meetinghouse in Saint David, Arizona.
