Rev. James Edward Pio, our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Pastor and Friend went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 27th 2019, peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones in Benson, Arizona. He was 78 years old. James was born on June 7, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Frances and Raymond Pio. James started his ministry as a child evangelist at the age of 14. He graduated from Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri.
James was ordained in the Pentecostal Church of God in April of 1967. On June 14, 1968 he married the love of his life (whom he called his angel), Helen Joyce Trobaugh. Together they raised four children.
James' main occupation was being a minister up until the day he went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ. He also served as a police officer and private investigator for over 21 years and in his later years worked at Walmart as the "shoe man" until he retired after 10 years.
James first and foremost loved his Savior Jesus, his beloved wife Helen (a close second), his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his church and church family, gospel music, western movies, and his old Ford truck.
James was preceded in death by his mother; Frances, stepfather; Henry Frost and father; Raymond Pio and a baby brother. James is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Helen, children; Sharon Ross (Norman) of Baytown, Texas, James Pio Jr. of Tennessee, Joyce Pio-Kirby of Sandy Utah, Stephen Pio of West Valley City, Utah, 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and sister; Joan Carr of Indianapolis, Indiana, and stepsister; Virginia Silvester of Layton Utah and many nieces and nephews.
