Obituary

Kay was a very beautiful soul, both inside and out. Her hand, heart and smile touched everyone she came in contact with. She always had a way about her that made everyone feel loved., or at least gave them a chuckle. Her eyes sparkled and twinkled every time she laughed. She had a contagious laugh that made you join in. She had a sweet innocence about her that most cherished and she was a loving and caring wife, mother and friend. Most of her friendships were lifelong. She had a great love for nature, both in the home and outside. She loved to sit out on the swing and listen to the birds and watch the sunset., she propagated African Violets and grew many in her home. She also grew beautiful Irises that her mother also grew when she was a child. She also loved to photograph flowers, sunsets, and other parts of nature.

Kay was an impeccable seamstress and has made many items from doll clothing to coats and quilts. She also enjoyed doing needlework, cross-stitching, crocheting and knitting with her sister Joyce as a fun past time.

She had a lifetime love of music from church hymns to other types. She was self-taught on every instrument that she played, which included: the piano, organ, dulcimer, auto harp, and the bowed psaltery. She served as the church organist and pianist for over 45 years.

She was the essence of a true homemaker. She canned and dried foods, cooked and baked for family and friends, planted, harvested, made soaps and herb salves, and raised her children.

She had a very creative and artistic side to her. She loved to draw, oil paint, ceramics, jewelry, and decorative cakes to give to others.

She had a thirst for reading and education. She especially loved reading church books and she attended the University of Louisville and was always on the Dean's List.

She also had an adventurous side to her that loved to travel. She was fortunate enough to have travelled to many states in our beautiful country and was able to travel to 16 countries. She was able to try different foods and see many beautiful places and the finest art.

She always liked to be fun and playful, especially with her grandchildren. She always enjoyed doing crafts with them, taking them to the zoo, park, or anything out in nature. She would always create laughter and be silly at any moment. Kay was always so kind and thoughtful towards everyone.

She loved sending letters to everyone, a thing of the past that means so much. She always gave a hand or an ear to those that needed comforting.

She was definitely the heart of the home.
