Rudolph (Rudy) Hazelwood, 83, Beloved Outdoorsman and Family Patriarch, Passes Away
Rudy Hazelwood, an 83‐year‐old man loved by every person who knew him, passed away Tuesday morning of natural causes at the Benson AZ Hospital. Rudy's long and well‐lived life was marked by deep family devotion and a passion for the great outdoors.
Born into a large family, Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, one daughter, and three grandchildren. His absence leaves a void felt not only by those who had the privilege of knowing him personally but also by the extended network of relatives who admired his generous spirit.
Rudy is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara, and a large family that includes five children, numerous grandchildren, great‐grandchildren, and even great great grandchildren. Throughout his life, he instilled in his family a love and respect for nature. An avid outdoorsman, Rudy spent many cherished moments teaching his children and grandchildren how to hunt, fish, and truly appreciate the wonders of the natural world. His lessons went far beyond practical skills—they were infused with the values of respect, responsibility, and a profound connection to the earth.
Rudy's warm smile, gentle humor, and unwavering kindness made him a beacon in his community. Whether sharing stories by a campfire or offering advice on the best fishing spots, he left a lasting impression on all who met him. His legacy is one of deep familial bonds, a commitment to living life fully, and a genuine love for nature that will continue to inspire future generations.
A private family event will be held at a later date to honor his memory, celebrating the life of a man whose guidance and spirited passion for the outdoors enriched so many lives.
