Richard Edward Churchwell, age 74, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep. He is survived by his loving Wife, Ruth Churchwell and beloved Daughter Jeanie Churchwell. He was an amazing man who cared for so many people. At 18 years of age he joined the military and served his country during the Cold War. Later in life he began working to build a nursery in Tucson before meeting Ruth. About a year after they met, they were married. Soon they purchased a piece of land that Ruthie had adored all her life in St. David. They began to build their own nursery together, having a daughter along the way. The Richards of St. David Nursery still stands to date along Highway 80. He also helped Ruthie build a strong dog grooming shop known to date as Ruthie’s Bath and Brush. Through his extensive knowledge, the nursery grew and other small side businesses began to grow and thrive as well. He was a kind, loving, tolerant man. He will be greatly missed. Services closed to direct family only.
