Mary Ann Battaglia passed away in her sleep at home in Benson on April 18, 2020 after a long illness. Born in Meadville, PA on March 8, 1941 to Cyril and Bessie Hood Pearce, Mary attended Cochranton High (PA), Penn State University and the University of Arizona and for many years served as President of Benson Realty operating as Century 21 Benson during the same time she was active in the Democratic Party serving several terms as Cochise County Chairperson, she also served on the boards of Benson Humane Society, Benson Health Services, San Pedro Valley Assistance League, SEABHS and others. Mary is survived by her husband of 58 years Mark Battaglia and daughter Ann (Kevin) Roberts, grandsons Ethan and Garrett Roberts, all of Benson, and her sister Barbara McCartney, of Cochranton, PA. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Betty Lou (Clint) Brown of Black Ash, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Mary A. Battaglia Memorial Scholarship maintained by Cochise College Foundation located at 4190 West Highway 80, Douglas, AZ 85607-6190 or any charity of the giver’s choice. In accordance with Mary’s wishes a private memorial service will be held, at a future date in Pennsylvania.
