Marilyn Rose Lawson peacefully left this world with loved ones at her side on June 6 after bravely battling cancer. She was born September 24, 1939 to Milton and Cecilia (Valley) Steinberg in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She married William (Bill) Lawson and together raised two daughters, Cindy (Lawson) Bohnenkamp and Mary (Lawson) Jones. She and Bill drove 18-wheeler trucks cross country for years before she began working at 3M. After Marilyn retired in 1996, they traveled in their RV and moved to Benson, Arizona in 1999. Her family grew to include 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren that she loved with all her heart, as well as her two brothers, one sister, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Strong, independent, kind, and caring, she selflessly took an elderly aunt into her home and later her own mother until she passed at 101.
Marilyn had many close friends and enjoyed her hobbies that included cooking, entertaining, feeding the birds, gardening, quilting, knitting, Mahjong, dominoes, bingo, dancing, reading, traveling, camping, fishing, boating, and the great adventure that was her life.
Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Benson, Arizona is Friday, June16, 2023 with Rosary starting at 1:00pm, Eulogy at 1:30pm, Mass at 2:00pm and refreshments to follow.
