Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully Friday, March 27, 2026.
Margaret was born in Colonia Juarez, Mexico, on October 23, 1927, to Ollie and Arno Mortensen. She was the second child born of nine.
Margaret married her lifelong sweetheart, Russell Thompson, in Elfrida on January 3, 1947.
She is survived by three children, Ron Thompson (Laura), Rita Carolyn Fisher, and Bonnie Staggs (Bruce). She also has four grandchildren, Brian “Denny” Swanda (Karla), Robert Swanda, Cindi McCann, and Kira Staggs. She has 11 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by two brothers and one sister.
Margaret loved to garden and particularly loved all her roses (especially pink ones) and Irises! One of her most favorite things in the world to do was load up the camper and take the kids and grandkids to Disneyland every summer!
Margaret & Russell were blessed to serve a couple’s mission in Nebraska & Texas, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They were also able to serve 2 1/2 years in the Mesa Temple together. Mom always said it was the best time of her life!
Services for Margaret will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10 AM., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel, in St. David. Graveside services to follow at the St. David Cemetery.
