Lucia H (Herrera) Hernandez

Lucia "Nana Luci" Herrera Hernandez, 97, of Benson, Arizona, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday morning, December 13, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. 

Born on May 10, 1927, Nana Lucia was the cherished matriarch of her family. Her life was a testament to unwavering love and selflessness. She possessed a kind and generous spirit that touched everyone she met. Her wisdom, laughter, and remarkable ability to make others feel valued will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Lucia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Ramon B. Hernandez; her grandson Robert Balaban Jr., her granddaughter Heather Hernandez, and her great-grandson Michael Duran.

She is survived by her five children: Martin (Patricia) Hernandez, Consuelo (Robert) Balaban, Esther (Ray) Zappia, Ramon (Leigh) Hernandez, and Fredrick (Dany) Hernandez. Nana Lucia also leaves behind a legacy of love through her 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be handled by Richardson Benson Mortuary, A Rosary will be held at 9:30am on December 19, 2024, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00am, both held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Benson, Arizona. Interment will take place at High Street Cemetery in Benson, Arizona following the funeral mass. 

Nana Lucia's memory will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration for those fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
