Kenneth “Kenny” Lee McMinimy passed away June 12, 2024, due to complications from cancer. He was born in Tucson on May 9, 1964, and lived in Benson, Arizona the majority of his life. He graduated from Benson High School in 1982 and followed his love for baseball to Yavapai Community College to continue playing. In 1985, Kenny married his high school sweetheart, Kristine, and began his work in law enforcement and public service. The couple had two kids in the early 1990s and Kenny spent his free time with his family and friends coaching sports teams, boating on Roosevelt Lake, riding ATVs in the desert, and enjoying music – especially playing the drums. He was the family fixer and built their family home plus any project his kids or wife could dream up. While injuries forced him to retire early, he continued to take on the role of Best Dad well into the kids’ adulthood with an enduring sense of humor.
We are heartbroken by his passing, but we are relieved he is no longer in pain. To say he will be missed is an understatement. He was truly one of a kind.
Kenny was predeceased by his mother Wanda L. McMinimy on January 27, 2017, and many other loved ones. He is survived by his wife Kristine, his children Kayla and Kyle, his father George McMinimy (Millie), his siblings Kristie Linder (Kirk) and Brian McMinimy (Debbie), his in-laws Carol and Larry Sipe, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends whom he loved dearly.
While we appreciate everyone’s love and support, there will not be a service and we are unable to receive flowers but would love if you shared your favorite memories or stories of Kenny below.
