John B Pierson

John B Pierson, 88, passed away on June 4,2025.  He was born on June 24, 1936, in Mammoth, Arizona to Camille St. Agnes (Civalier) Pierson and Clarence Franklin Pierson.  He was the seventh child out of eleven.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Virginia Pierson-Cassady, wife, Mary “Beth” Pierson, son, John Richard Pierson, his parents and siblings.  He is survived by his youngest daughter, Lori Elizabeth Falls; his sister Muriel Grover; his brother-in-law Fred Elliott; eight grandchildren, fourteen greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

John knew at a young age that he wanted to be a cattle rancher.  He and his wife, Beth, bought their first ranch, Mescal Creek Ranch, in 1975.  He retired from Magma Copper Company as an Electrician Supervisor in 1981 and became a full-time cattle rancher.  He loved his cattle, and he loved the land.

John loved hunting deer and mountain lions when he was younger.  He loved his horses, and he loved good cow dogs.  His children called him Dr. Doolittle because he always knew how to heal sick animals, and all of the animals seemed to cling to him.  He was a tough old cowboy that could do almost anything except beat that horrible Alzheimer’s Disease.
