John R Ludwig

     John R. Ludwig Dec. 31, 1947 - April 21, 2022 TOMBSTONE - John R. Ludwig, 74, of Tombstone, AZ, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022. He was born on December 31, 1947, in Mason City, IA, and was a 1966 graduate of Syracuse High School. Surviving family includes his son, Solomon “Solly” Ludwig, his sister Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson, his brother Sam (Cindy) Ludwig, and his brother Peter (Dallas) Ludwig and many other beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.  John was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Corinne (Sandry) Ludwig.  John has been a resident of Tombstone for over 30 years where his vintage 1880’s artwork, landscape murals and inimitable style add to the town’s charm.  He attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, Southern Oregon State College in Ashland, Oregon and the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.
     John was an artist for all his adult life producing paintings, murals and various forms of commercial art. He had a beautiful soul, he had charisma, he was one of a kind.   He was a great friend , confidante and full of love. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, caring heart and great humor… he will be deeply missed.
