Joanne "Joan" Jean Wheeler (Oldenburg), age 80, of Benson, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at home. She was born March 1, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Harvey and Helen (Scorcic) Oldenburg.
Joan graduated from Waukesha High School. She was united in marriage to Butch Wheeler on December 15, 1967. She worked as Customer Service at Purina Mills for 35 years before retiring in 2009.
Butch and Joan traveled for 7 years in their RV, one place they spent multiple winters, was at Leaf Verde, Buckeye, Arizona, where they had many good friends and a lot of "Happy Hours," before they settled down in Benson, Arizona, where they have been among many friends. She enjoyed swimming, playing cards, and attending happy hours in Benson also.
Joan is survived by her husband Merton "Butch" Wheeler, sons Brian Sereno (Jeri), Paul Wheeler (Kim Harvey). Daughters Tina Leis (Jeff Broyles), Debra Devlin (Brendan). Grandchildren Briley Sereno, Jack (Dennie), Emma (PJ), Lily, Henry Wheeler, Jesse (Megan) & Jacob (Heather) Leis, Brock & Brandon Devlin, Kaylee Norris (Jacob). Great-Grandchildren Caroline Wheeler, Tucker Soptick, Jones & Miles Leis, Nova Leis, Kendall, Hadley & Rhett Norris.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Harvey & Helen, her brother Doug Oldenburg, her favorite aunt, Elsie Mae, and one grandson, Dalton Sereno.
Services are currently pending but will be held in Kansas at a future date and will be updated on this site.
