James Michael (Mike) Stanley passed away on June 25, 2018 at the age of 67. He was surrounded by his family in his home in Benson, Arizona.
Mike was born on July 4, 1950 in Powell, Wyoming. He was the first born of two born to James F. Stanley and Barbara L. Wirth. At the age of twelve he was bed ridden with what the doctors called arthritis throughout his body. He was given six months to live. His parents decided to move Mike to a warmer climate and moved to Cortez, Colorado. After six months in Cortez, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Mike graduated from Alhambra High School in 1968.
Mike was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the Texas South Mission from 1972 to 1975. His mother Barbara died while he was serviing. Mike stayed in the mission field because it was what his mother would have wanted. While on his mission, he met Charlotte Ellen Holyoak from Phoenix, Arizona and continued to correspond by mail. Mike married Charlotte in the Mesa Temple on June 25, 1977. They were blessed with three children before moving to Benson, Arizona from Phoenix, Arizona in 1985.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 41 years and three children: James (Tammy) Stanley, Roxann (Clayton) Dozier and William (Tracy) Stanley; his brother Scott Stanley of Kingman, Arizona and eight grandchildren.
Mike is buried in Cochise Gardens of Benson, Arizona.
