Jack Wayne Phillips of Benson, Arizona passed away November 14,2023 at the Tucson, AZ Veterans Hospital at the age of 77. He was born in Tacoma, Washington on September 27,1946. He is survived by wife Armida Phillips, Daughter Pauline V. Pratt and her husband Matthew Pratt, Son John W. Phillips, daughter Venla I. Garcia and her Husband Billy Garcia. Grandchildren Matthew C. Pratt, Nickolas Pratt, Dewayne Phillips, Ryan Tarango, Tony Ramirez and Jesse Ramirez, Sisters Conny DeSpain, Glenda Zamire and brother Jody C. Phillips. Preceded in death by grandchildren Brian Phillips and Billy B. Tarango.
Jack served with honor in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1969 during the Vietnam War, proudly contributing to the nation's defense on the on USS Kitty Hawk and USS Proteus. Jack continued to serve in the Army National Guard in Globe, AZ for a few years. He dedicated 31 years in the Postal Service and retired from the Globe, AZ Post Office in 2001 as Assistant Postmaster. Jack moved to Benson, AZ after retirement and enjoyed working on his property and watching the deer, quail and wildlife. He enjoyed planting his garden, trees and using his tractor to move dirt around for projects on his property. He was a hard worker and “Jack of all trades”, and his children learned many of his skills and work ethics. On July 2, 2024 at 2:00pm, we will hold a Military Service at the South Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery for his final resting place. I miss you already, your wife.
