Frances Janet “Jan” Meeks, 77, died 27th November 2023 at her home in Benson, Arizona. Jan was born October 27, 1946 in Brighton, Colorado to Vendla Hose.
She grew up on a farm east of Denver, Colorado raised by her grandmother Vendla Egan. After High School, Jan followed her dream to become a Registered Nurse to the Florida Keys. She obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing at Florida Keys Community College.
While attending Nursing School, Jan met her husband of 10 years and moved to Tucson, Arizona. Jan was active in all aspects of Nursing and her career advanced into many specialties. Jan ended up moving back to her hometown in Brighton, Colorado where she continued her Nursing Profession in many advanced roles. She always enjoyed gardening, fishing, and traveling in the mountains. After a marriage, Jan moved to various towns and cities in Colorado, Arizona, and Texas. Jan was always on the move and could not be tied down. She found her love as a Labor and Delivery Nurse where she worked as Traveling Nurse in Florida, Maryland, Alaska, and Guam. She made many friends along the way.
Eventually, Jan retired in Benson, Arizona where she loved to garden and visit with her neighbors. Jan was always cooking and loved baking cookies. She stayed active with her 2 grandchildren, Ryan and Alyssa. They became the love of her life.
Jan is survived by her son James “Jimmy” (Darcy) Meeks, two grandchildren Ryan and Alyssa Meeks, uncles Bill Egan, Clinton (Gayle) Egan, Art Egan and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents Emil and Vendla Frances Hose.
