Welcome to the memorial page for

Vivian Mary Pesquiera

October 21, 2017 ~ October 31, 2017

Vivian was born in Benson, AZ.  She graduated from Benson Union High School, Class of 1951 in Benson, Az.  She is survived by:  her remaining sister Ernestine Vasquez-Apodaca (also of Benson, AZ; now resides in Buena Park, CA); her eight children:  Michael Manuel Gastelum (Maria), Mary “Virginia” Gastelum, Mary “Vela” Elizabeth Gastelum-Arias (Nacho, deceased), Olga Gastelum-Jordan (William), Vincent James Guerra Pesqueira (Jacque), Joseph Richard Valencia (Angela) Maria Elvia Pesquiera-Ortega-Wilson (Aaron), Linda Veronica Pesquiera; her ten grandchildren: Linda, Jeff, Richard “Choppers,” Annette, Richard, Natalie, Rhiannon, Marsanlet, Jesus, Isaiah; her 19 great-grandchildren:  Cassandra, Cassara, Robert, Eddie, Bianca, Monique, April, Richard “Pops,” Armandito, Rosie, Elisa, Esai, Gabriel, Joshua, Isabel, Oliver, Isabelle, Aliya, Penny; her 8 great-great-grandchildren:  Angelito, Naomi, Charisma, Camila, Cataleya, Anaiya, Rita, and S.J.

Vivian was best known for her singing at a party or doing housework.  She could sing accompanied or a cappella.  She could harmonize with anyone in an instant.  She enjoyed Mariachi music the most, but sang in different genres as well.  When offered to join a mariachi group, Mom declined the opportunity in order to continue raising her children.  Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family will always remember her for her loving generosity, constant coverage in prayer for their lives and events.  We will miss the twinkle in her eyes and her laughter, her appreciation for outdoor picnics and the enjoyment she took in watching her children grow in Jesus towards the end.  We thank her for teaching us about God and the importance of Jesus in our lives, visually seeing her kneel, bow and pray, audibly praying and singing aloud to them and tactically – showing us how to kneel, put our hands together and lift them up to Him.  In her final hours she asked for me to offer you, “My deepest apologies to anyone I may have hurt during my lifetime.”  You are finally in the deepest joy with our Lord and we are happy for you Mom.
