James Wilson Obituary

James “Jim” A. Wilson of Benson, Ariz., died Sept. 11, 2019 at Tucson Medical Center after a long fight with lung and heart disease. Jim was born in Yuma on Nov. 25, 1946 to Fred and Dorothy Wilson. Jim retired from the railroad in 2008 after 40 years of service. He worked for both the Southern Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific as a Signal Maintainer with a district that ran from Benson to Tucson. Jim repaired signals, gates, pole lines and switches. Before joining the railroad Jim served in the United States Army for three years.

Jim loved the outdoors and enjoyed golf and bowling. Jim served as the Head Deacon at the Benson Heights Baptist Church for 10 years where he taught a Sunday School Class for the men and, on occasion, conducted services and a funeral. He loved to read the Bible and held the Lord, Jesus Christ, in his heart.

Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth Moran Wilson and by his daughter, Christina Holcomb, and his son, Raymond Wilson, and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His daughter Cindy Kay Wilson preceded him in death 10 years ago. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held Sept. 21, 2019 at Benson Heights Baptist Church, 397 W. Duane St., on the corner of Duane and High street
