Doris Lillie O’Bannon

May 11, 1934 – July 1, 2017

Doris Lillie O’Bannon, 83, passed away July 1, 2017 to be with her Lord and Savior, parents Goerge E. Lamrouex and Lela B. (Smith) Lamrouex, siblings, friends and other cherished family members.

She is survived by her siblings, Emily, Floyd, Sylvia and Dollie; her children, Beverley Slocum of Clarksville, Tenn.; Lavon Newman of Benson, Ariz., Stephen (Sharon) O’Bannon, Tom O’Bannon, Carol (Gordy) Schutt of Benson; grandchildren Heather Watson of Benson, Shaun Watson of Westfield, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Logan, Lily, Devon, Brenna, Connor and Aydan.

Doris was a security guard at Apache Nitrogen. Doris owned her own handmade blown glass shop in Tombstone and Benson for many years. She was also an organist for 25 years at her father’s church, Living Faith Fellowship Church. Doris was an active member of the Lions Club in Benson and could be seen Friday nights calling bingo.

Doris is well known for her many acts of kindness. She started the first food bank in the ’70’s out of her front yard every Saturday for many years giving out to the many people in need. Doris was very passionate about her crafts, knitting, painting, needle work and Tri-chem. She always gave away more than she ever sold. Doris loved the Lord and was passionate about her faith and would share with anybody who would listen. She was a mentor to her family, friends, and many.

A memorial service for Doris will be held Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Living Faith Fellowship Church. Pastor Larry Andrews will be officiating. Fellowship will immediately follow in the hall to get together and share our memories.
