David Ulmer Lewis, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 26 in his home that he shared with his sweetheart of 67 years, Neomi Mortensen Lewis.
Ulmer, as he was known to his southern family was born in Johnsonville, South Carolina on April 3, 1929. He was one of 8 children and the only child to graduate from high school. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air force where he served for 22 years and retired from active duty as a master sergeant. David had a strong work ethic and went on to work after retirement in a variety of different jobs including driving a school bus, working as an athletic equipment manager at a local High School, and the post office.
David loved to travel and see new places. He enjoyed good food and good company. He loved sports but baseball was his game of choice and he spent many hours playing, coaching and umpiring baseball throughout the years. He was active in the LDS faith and served a mission with his eternal companion in Brownsville, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, 6 children; Cerise (Darrell) Warren, Diana (Blain) Curtis, Tom (Maria) Lewis, Gordon (Sharon) Lewis, Ira (Lisa) Lewis, Scott Lewis; 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
