Shirley Maye Holbert

Shirley Maye Holbert was born June 18, 1941, in Youngstown, Ohio to Arthur Q. Ruffner Sr. and Dorothea M. (Arkwright) Ruffner.  She left this world on November 3, 2017, in Benson, Arizona after a valiantly fought battle with cancer.  The following are her words:

"Hey everyone, it's me, Shirley!  When you read this, I will already be gone.  You won't be the same as you were, nothing in your life will ever be the same.  But time moves on and things change.  That's the way of life.  My life was good.  It was the life I chose, with the good, bad and the screwed-up days.  I wouldn't have been me if I had chosen a different path.  I loved my life, I hated it, then loved it again.  I am a Christian.  I love being a child of God.  Don't knock it until you try it!  Please go on and live your lives.  There will be good days, bad days and screwed up days.  Try to focus more on the good and less on the bad.  They will pass!  Life is too short, so live it and enjoy the time you have!"

Shirley is survived by:  her five children; Lorrie Billy (Frankie), Sandra Howard (Raymond), Paula Campbell, Jonnie Moore (Lawrence), Audie Holbert (Stephanie): four stepchildren; Antonia Snyder, Jimmy Snyder, Marleah Holbert and Kevin Holbert (Leslie); three Brothers:  Arthur Ruffner Jr. (Janice), Raymond Ruffner (Jean), Robert Ruffner and one sister; Barbara Hettinger.  She is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by:  her parents; two husbands; Lee Morris 1934-2012, Thomas Holbert Sr. 1943-2011;  two grandchildren; Jairess Hearn 1989-2002, Jared Morris 1993-2015, and a stepson; Thomas Holbert Jr., 1960-1998.

Shirley will be dearly missed and forever loved and remembered.  Interment will be at  Cochise Gardens of Rest in Benson, Arizona.
